Mail Call

November 24, 2006

"I don't think that it's right that residents of Williamsport have to drive through the cemetery on Sunset Avenue when they have this JFK run, because they have cars parked in the middle of the road, blocking the roadway. The officials or whatever are routing people through the cemetery. That cemetery is a holy ground. It's not made for people to be traveling through. If they want to detour them somewhere, they should detour them through the front of Springfield Middle School. Either that or maybe they need to find a new place for them to run."

"I'm calling about the caller from Halfway who made the statement in The Daily Mail, Monday, Nov. 20, Mail Call, in which they say that this administration has knowingly sent unprepared soldiers to an unwinnable war, etc. What a statement of disingenuity. It's the approval of Congress that sends soldiers to war. While the administrator, the president, is the commander in chief, it is Congress that takes the greater rap for this. Maybe now, hopefully, the new Congress will be able to take our very prepared soldiers and make a winnable war out of it. We can pray and hope that's the case."

"I would like to thank the person who works for the city who came on Monday morning and helped my husband and my granddaughter fix a tire on a car on East Irvin Avenue. He certainly was a guardian angel, because my husband was not able to pick up the tire and neither was my granddaughter, and he came and helped them, but when they looked for him to say thanks, he was gone. We just want him to know that he certainly is a very fine person. Thank you so much."
