Shepherd 60, Shippensburg 51

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. - Danley Shank scored 25 points to lead Shepherd to a win over Shippensburg.

Yves Moliva added 11 points for the Rams while Derek Gallagher came off the bench to haul down a team high ten rebounds.

Shepherd's 3-0 start is its first since the 1986-87 season.

Shepherd 74, Shippensburg 63

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. - Andrea Kauffman had a double-double with 12 points and a game-high 13 rebounds to aid Shepherd University to its first win of the season.

Nylia Zamora had 11 points and 10 rebounds, while Camille Wilmer scored 12 points and Laura Harkins and Krissy Grosselin each added 11 for the Rams (1-2).

Shanna Oaddams led Shippensburg (1-2) with 15 points and nine boards, while Lauren Beckley added 11 points.

Hill named All-American

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Syracuse freshman Lorraine Hill, a Chambersburg graduate, earned first-team All-America honors in the javelin throw by the American Track & Field Magazine.

Hill was named to the All-America team based mainly on her senior year at Chambersburg, when she won a Pennsylvania State Championship. She also placed third at the Nike Outdoor Nationals, second at the Penn Relays and earned all-state honors with a top mark of 157 feet, 4 inches.

Hill begins her college career with Syracuse at the Cornell Relays on Dec. 2.

EPIC Jr. Strikers win tourney

The EPIC (Eastern Panhandle Intercounty Soccer Club) Jr. Strikers U-10 Boys travel soccer team won the Boys Classic Division in the Fauquier County Soccer Club Hunt Country Classic Tournament in Warrenton, Va.

The EPIC Jr. Strikers U-10 players participating were Jack Barrat, Conrad Blazer, Tyler Campbell, Austin Doughty, Colin Hayes, Jacob Lowe, Kyle Rodriquez, Alex Wagner, Anthony Wenner and Austin Youmans.

Hedgesville hosting hoops scrimmages

Hedgesville High School will be hosting basketball scrimmages for the varsity and freshman teams. The boys varsity and JV teams will scrimmage James Wood on Saturday at 10 a.m. and Bridgeport on Dec. 2 at noon.

The girls varsity and JV teams will scrimmage North Hagerstown on Monday at 5:30 p.m.

The freshman team will scrimmage Smithsburg on Nov. 29 at 4.

There will be a $2 charge for each scrimmage and season tickets can be ordered at the scrimmages or by calling 304-754-7551.

Instructional basketball clinic

The Jefferson County Parks & Recreation Commission will be holding an instructional basketball clinic under the direction of Shepherd University head coach Ken Tyler, his staff and his players.

The clinic will be conducted Dec. 9 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Jefferson County Community Center Gym. The entry fee is $30 per person.
