Pearl V. Johnson, 83

BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - Pearl Virginia Johnson, 83, of Berkeley Springs, died Friday, Nov. 17, 2006, at City Hospital in Martinsburg, W.Va.

Born Dec. 1, 1922, in Morgan County, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late William Thomas Dailey and Flora Mae Stotler Dailey.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ercell Johnson, in 1965.

She was a former cook at the Fairfax Restaurant in Berkeley Springs.

She was a former member of Berkeley Springs Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.

She is survived by one brother, Junior Dailey of Omaha, Neb.; and nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

She was preceded in death by two sons, Ralph Everhart and Kenneth Harmon; four sisters, Betty Lou Tritapoe, Sara B. Bryan, Hilda Linaweaver and Jane Bohrer; and two brothers, Eugene Dailey and William Dailey.

Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Hunter-Anderson Funeral Home, Berkeley Springs. Pastor Dirk Hughes will officiate. Burial will be in Michael Cemetery.

Visitation will be today from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.




Esther M. Yingling, 88

FREDERICK, Md. - Esther Marie Yingling, 88, of Frederick, died Friday, Nov. 17, 2006, at Citizens Care and Rehabilitation Center.

Born Aug. 6, 1918, in Cascade, she was the daughter of the late Harvey and Edith Smith Miller.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William C. Yingling.

She is survived by her children, William H. Yingling Sr. of Frederick, and Helen McElroy of Sykesville, Md.; two sisters, Hazel Zinkhan and Betty Dingle; one brother, Robert E. Miller; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one son, John R. Yingling; two sisters, Helen Bittner and Gladys Wolf; two brothers, Harry Miller and Richard Miller; and one grandson.

Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Stauffer Funeral Home, Thurmont, Md. The Rev. Burnis Barrett will officiate. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Betty Jane Brechbiel, 79


JAN. 29, 1927-NOV. 17, 2006

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Betty Jane (Mowen) Brechbiel, 79, a resident of Manorcare Health Services in Chambersburg, Pa., and formerly of 8685 Rabbit Road North in Greencastle, Pa., died Friday, Nov. 17, 2006, at 5:45 p.m. at the nursing home.

Born Jan. 29, 1927, in Antrim Township, Franklin County, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Harry Clinton and Orpha Viola Johnston Mowen.

She and her husband, David E. Brechbiel, were married April 6, 1949, in Hagerstown, Md. He died July 14, 2002.

In her earlier years, she was employed by GEM Garment Co. in Greencastle. She retired from the former Better Foods Foundation in Greencastle.

Mrs. Brechbiel was a member of Ebenezer "Guitners" United Brethren Church in Greencastle.

She enjoyed word puzzles, crafts and watching game shows on TV.

Surviving family are daughters, Debra Y. Rudy and Toni D. (wife of Richard A.) Hahn, both of Waynesboro, Pa.; son, David H.N. Brechbiel of Greencastle; grandchildren, Heather D. Thomas and Matthew A. Hahn, both of Waynesboro; brothers, Rollo Mowen of State Line, Pa., Eldon Mowen of Greencastle, L. Aubrey Mowen of Greencastle, and Everett Mowen of Hagerstown; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Ruby Rhone; two sisters, Virginia Zeigler and Evelyn Overcash; and six brothers, Emory S. Mowen, Gerald Mowen, Carl Mowen, Galen Mowen, George Mowen and Marvin Mowen.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2006, at 11 a.m. at Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, 45 S. Carlisle St., Greencastle, with the Rev. Richard E. Mose officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Greencastle.

The family will receive friends Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home, and Tuesday one hour prior to services at the funeral home.

Deborah C. Welty, 51


AUG. 4, 1955-NOV. 17, 2006

Deborah C. "Debbie" Welty, 51, of Hagerstown, Md., was suddenly called home to be with her Lord Jesus on Friday morning, Nov. 17, 2006, at her residence.

She was born Aug. 4, 1955, in Frederick, Md., and was the daughter of Donald T. Ayers and Beverly Haller Ayers.

She was a 1973 graduate of Brunswick (Md.) High School.

She was a successful businesswoman, employed with the Department of Health and Human Services with the U.S. government in Rockville, Md.

She formerly belonged to The Order of the Eastern Star of Brunswick, and held positions of secretary and junior church director at Knoxville (Md.) Bible Church.
