November 16, 2006

WILLIAMSPORT - A Sharpsburg woman was killed early this morning when her vehicle hit a utility pole on Md. 63 and rolled down an embankment, Maryland State Police said.

Arvella Ruth Hafer, 45, was pronounced dead at the scene of the 5:07 a.m. accident just south of Falling Waters Road, according to Trooper 1st Class Kyle George.

Hafer was alone in her 1993 Buick LeSabre when for unknown reasons, she crossed the center line, George said.

Ejected from her vehicle, Hafer wasn't wearing a seat belt.

"The family all showed up at the scene ... we didn't have to notify them," George said.

Williamsport fire and ambulance personnel responded to the accident.
