The Maryland Holstein Scholarship Committee an-nounces that five scholarships are available to state Holstein youth: A $2,000 award to the Outstanding Maryland Holstein Scholar, and four $750 scholarships.
These will be given at the state Holstein Convention next spring in Carroll County.
The scholarships are offered to Maryland 4-H/FFA youth who are enrolled or have been enrolled in a dairy project with Holstein cattle. They are available to both undergraduate and graduate students attending a two-year or four-year degree-granting institution in a College of Agriculture.
The $2,000 award is offered to the most outstanding applicant, based on Holstein project activities and accomplishments, scholastic achievements, 4-H/FFA activities, school and community activities, and future goals. Applicants are eligible to win a scholarship twice but can win the $2,000 award only once.
Begun in 1973, the scholarship program has grown in the number of awards given and amounts thanks to the continued support of Maryland Holstein members and friends.
