'Pirates of Penzance'

The classic light opera by Gilbert and Sullivan is a comic story of an aristocratic boy turned apprentice pirate amid bumbling policemen, soft-hearted pirates and an eccentric member of the British aristocracy. Dinner theater showtimes are on Fridays and Saturdays with dinner at 6 p.m. and the show at 7:30 p.m. Performances continue through Saturday, Nov. 11. The Goretti Players and Thespian Troupe will present a stage adaptation of Jimmy Stewart's classic holiday film, "It's a Wonderful Life," at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 10, and Saturday, Nov. 11. The show, which examines the impact of one man on his community, will take place at Hagers-town Community College's Kepler Theater. Admission costs $6. Murder? He went nuclear.

Wayside Theatre presents "Black Coffee," a little-known Hercule Poirot mystery by Agatha Christie about atomic weapons research and murder. Showtimes are 8 p.m. today through Saturday, Nov. 11, and 2:30 p.m. Saturday. "Black Coffee" closes with Saturday's shows.
