Update - Hess poised to keep position in Pa. House

McCONNELLSBURG, Pa. - Voters in Fulton County on Tuesday helped push state Rep. Dick Hess closer to an 11th term in office and a solid defeat of Democratic challenger Gary Ebersole, according to complete but nofficial results.

In Fulton County, Hess took 70 percent of the vote and led Ebersole by 3,108 to 1,269, with all precincts reporting, according to figures from the Fulton County Election Board.

Hess, 68, of Bedford, Pa., has represented the 78th district of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives since 1986, and currently chairs the House Aging and Older Services Commission.

Ebersole, a former Bedford County Commissioner, ran unopposed for the Democratic nomination in May.

The 78th district encompasses all of Fulton County and the majority of Bedford County.
