Hutchinson dominates in Morgan commission race

BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - Democrat Brenda J. Hutchinson won the race for Morgan County Commission, according to complete, but unofficial results from Tuesday's general election.

With all 13 precincts reporting, Hutchinson received 2,463 votes to defeat Republican Wayne Omps, who received 1,573 votes.

Hutchinson, 53, lives at 5154 Milo School Road in Great Cacapon, W.Va., and is employed as a real estate paralegal.

Omps, 53, a business owner, lives at 188 Cattail Drive in Berkeley Springs.

Write-in Republican candidate Carl O. Cowgill received 254 votes.

Hutchinson won all 13 precincts in the county.

The commission seat is a six-year position with an annual salary of $34,980 and is currently held by Democrat Bob Ford, who did not seek re-election.
