Election Day draws near for candidates and voters

Tuesday is Election Day.

In Washington County, the polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Anyone with questions may call the Washington County Board of Elections at 240-313-2050.

Election Day hot line

Four groups have set up a hot line for voters to call to report problems on Election Day.

The NAACP, the Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights Under Law, People for the American Way Foundation and the American Civil Liberties Union of Maryland set up the Election Protection hot line.

"There should be no obstacles to voter participation and the NAACP and its allies are standing by to make sure in fact there are no obstacles to citizens who want to exercise their right to vote," NAACP General Counsel Dennis Courtland Hayes said in a news release.

The hot line number is 866-OUR-VOTE, which is 866-687-8683.
