Nine Washington County residents received scholarships from the Shepherd University Foundation for the 2006-07 academic year.

Erika Osborne of Clear Spring received the Guy Frank, Hoch-Legeti Music, Jefferson Security Bank Music, and Margaret Good scholarships, and the Hoch-Legeti Music Award.

Scholarship winners from Hagerstown were Elizabeth Jenkins, who received the Tri-State Civitan Scholarship; Cassandra Newton, McCormick Class Scholarship; Ashley Shingler, Florence Hamilton and Kenneth and Kitty Harbaugh scholarships; and Holly Snyder, who received Anna Thorn Rice, Jean F. Parsons, and Washington County Homemakers scholarships.

Aaron Holder of Keedysville received the Ralph Burkhart Tuition Scholarship.

Recipients from Sharpsburg were Jessica Meyers, Ralph Burkhart Tuition Scholarship; and Jennifer Ryan, Ronald Reeder Scholarship.

David Gildersleeve of Williamsport received the Daniel and Kay De Palma Scholarship.

The Shepherd University Foundation funds more than 300 endowed scholarships which will provide more than $1 million in student and program support in 2006-07. These funds support scholarship awards for deserving Shepherd students each academic year.
