The Grubers

Ray and Dorothy Gruber of Williamsport celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on Sunday, July 30, 2006, at Windy Hill Restaurant in Clear Spring. The event was hosted by their children and spouses, Sharon and Harold Carbaugh and Ray Jr. and Susan Gruber. Their five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren were all in attendance.

The Grubers were married Aug. 3, 1946, in Cumberland, Md., by Pastor Arthur L. Hunter.

Mrs. Gruber, the former Dorothy Silvers, is a homemaker.

Mr. Gruber served in the U.S. Army from 1943 to 1946 as a truck driver. He worked at Fairchild Aircraft in Hagerstown and Byrons Tannery in Williamsport.

The Shorbs

Glenn "Buzz" and Judith Shorb celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Saturday, Feb. 11, 2006, at their daughter's home in Hagerstown with their immediate family. The Shorbs received cards and gifts in response to a card shower held in their honor.


The Shorbs were married Feb. 11, 1956, in Hamilton, Va.

Mrs. Shorb is the daughter of the late J. Merle and Hannah B. Bohrer Stang. She retired from Sanicola Podiatry.

Mr. Shorb is the son of the late Earl and Virginia Wilson Shorb. He retired from Peoples Life Insurance Co.

They are members of John Wesley United Methodist Church in Hagerstown.
