Pet of the week

November 04, 2006

Blink's mother was a pregnant stray that was taken in and adopted. Her adopted family kept some of her kittens, but could not keep them all, including Blink.

Blink is 8 weeks old and has white fur and gray tabby markings. He is a very affectionate kitten.

If you would like to adopt Blink or need more information, visit the Humane Society of Washington County at 13011 Maugansville Road near Hagerstown, or call 301-733-2060.

Pet tip: The happy indoor cat

It is a myth that going outside is a requirement for feline happiness. Playing with a cat satisfies its stalking instinct, keeps it stimulated and provides the exercise its needs to stay healthy and happy. The indoor cat who gets lots of attention is likely happier than the indoor-outdoor cat who is generally ignored by companions. Indoor-only cats generally live longer and healthier lives.
