Dining and shopping guides are released

November 02, 2006

The Hagerstown-Washington County Convention and Visitors Bureau has just released the newest versions of its local Dining Guide and Shopping Guide.

The guides, designed by High Rock Interactive Inc., are fold-out brochures with an address, telephone number and Web site, if applicable, for each CVB member business included.

Both brochures include a map of Washington County and downtown Hagerstown, with the businesses marked.

"These entirely new brochures are important for visitors and residents alike," said Tom Riford, CVB president. "We distribute tens of thousands of these brochures throughout the mid-Atlantic."

The Shopping Guide includes listings for antique shopping, apparel shopping, book stores, furniture, jewelers, shopping centers and specialty shops.

"It's amazing how many people come to our county to explore our shopping choices," Riford said.

The Dining Guide includes restaurants serving many different cuisines, including Italian, American, ice cream and specialties, Mexican, Cantonese and Szechwan, Japanese, steak and seafood, fancy "haute" dishes, gourmet, sushi dishes, Bavarian/German, and home-style. It also features a tea room.

"We have many area restaurants which report that visitors make up the majority of their business. These guides help inform and direct out-of-towners to what we have to offer," Riford said.

He said the guides will be distributed to welcome centers, hotels, restaurants, malls and other locations in the county.
