Local photographer shows battle pics

ANNAPOLIS - A collection of black and white images of Antietam Battlefield by Sharpsburg photographer Halli Casser-Jayne are being exhibited on the Freedom Wall of the Maryland State House. The photographs, from Casser-Jayne's book "Still Life images of Antietam," provide a view of the famous Civil War battle that took place Sept. 17, 1862 in Sharpsburg. The show runs through November.

Casser-Jayne will sign copies of her books at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 4, at Borders Books in Annapolis Mall.

The Maryland State House is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. seven days a week. Adults need to show photo identification for entry. For information, go to

Gallery hosts show

Contemporary School of the Arts & Gallery will host a juried art show in February. Deadline for submissions is Wednesday, Jan. 10. The $25 non-refundable application fee entitles each artist to enter three pieces.

The overall winner will have an opportunity for a solo show at Contemporary Art Gallery. The opening reception will be from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 3.

Vendors sought

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Vendors are wanted for the 14th annual Dickens Christmas Faire, scheduled from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 11, at Park Avenue United Methodist Church, U.S. 11 at Park Avenue, across from Wilson College.
