Md. man faces sexual assault charges in W.Va.

November 02, 2006

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - A Colmar Manor, Md., man was arraigned Wednesday on charges he sexually assaulted his teenage daughter twice in 2003 and on one occasion held a knife to her throat, threatening to kill her if she told anyone, Berkeley County Magistrate Court records allege.

The man's identity will not be released in the interest of protecting the victim. He was charged with two counts of second-degree sexual assault and placed in jail after an arraignment hearing held by Magistrate Harry L. Snow. Snow set a $200,000 cash bond for the case.

The girl, now 15, told Berkeley County Sheriff's Department deputy C.K. Gibbons in May that the assaults happened at their former residence in Berkeley County.

The victim told Gibbons that she and her 13-year-old brother were removed from their father's house in 2004 and they live with relatives in another state.

Her brother told police that his father also held a knife to his throat and forced him to watch pornographic movies, according to Gibbons' complaint.

Last week, a Berkeley County Sheriff's deputy charged a 44-year-old Hedgesville, W.Va., man with sexually assaulting his niece and their daughter on several occasions beginning in 1989.

The day before the 44-year old's arraignment, a 49-year-old Charles Town, W.Va., man was arrested on sexual abuse charges involving his two daughters, records show.
