MERCERSBURG, Pa. - A member of the Chambersburg Fire Department fire police was injured Monday night while directing traffic at the conclusion of Mercersburg's Halloween parade, according to borough police.

Vincent Horst, 39, of Chambersburg, Pa., was flown by medevac helicopter to an Altoona, Pa., hospital following the 9:37 p.m. accident, said Sgt. Bill Sheppard. Horst was hit by a car driven by a 52-year-old Hagerstown woman, he said.

Horst and another fire policeman were directing traffic at the intersection of Keefer and Loudon roads when he was struck by the car, which was headed south on Loudon Street, Sheppard said.

Horst was in the hospital Tuesday evening, but Sheppard said he had talked to him Tuesday and Horst was in stable condition.
