MERCERSBURG, Pa. - A fire policeman was struck and injured by a car at the conclusion of Mercersburg's Halloween parade, according to borough police.

The accident happened at 9:37 p.m. at the intersection of Keefer and Loudon roads, said Sgt. Bill Sheppard. He said the unidentified fire policeman was directing traffic when he was hit by a woman driving a car south on Loudon Road.

The man was flown to a hospital in Altoona, Pa., by a medevac helicopter, said Sheppard, who described the man's injuries as moderate.

Another fire policeman directing traffic at the same intersection was unhurt and the driver and her passenger also escaped injury, Sheppard said. The accident was still under investigation and no charges had been filed against the driver.
