Man charged following armed robbery, stabbing

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - A Martinsburg man was charged Friday night after an armed robbery of a pizza delivery driver and a stabbing at two adjacent apartment complexes in the northern part of the city, according to a press release from the Berkeley County Sheriff's Department.

Thomas Damon Foltz, 27, was charged with armed robbery in the robbery of a Domino's Pizza driver in the Berkeley Gardens apartment complex, according to the release. He also was charged with malicious wounding, attempted armed robbery and assault in the stabbing incident, according to the release.

The robbery, which was reported at 7:32 p.m. at Building 89 of the Berkeley Gardens apartment complex, involved an assailant wielding a box cutter-type weapon, according to the release. The assailant took an undisclosed amount of money, according to the release.

Shortly after the robbery, deputies learned of a man who said he had been stabbed during an attempted robbery at the nearby Roberts Gardens apartment complex, according to the release.

The stabbing victim, Mark Beddow, 23, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., told deputies he was stabbed by a black man wearing wire-rimmed glasses and a black hooded sweat shirt, according to the release.

A short time later, deputies took Foltz into custody, according to the release. A small knife that had been carried by Foltz was found, according to the release.

Beddow was taken to Washington County Hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries, according to the release.

Foltz was being held Saturday night in the Eastern Regional Jail on a $50,000 bond in connection with the armed robbery charge, jail officials said.
