Waynesboro church has new pastor

WAYNESBORO, Pa. - A second-generation pastor has accepted a call to Grace Brethren Church in Waynesboro.

Larry M. Weber, who assumed his duties in July, is the son of the late Russell and Naomi Weber. His father was pastor of Hagerstown Grace Brethren Church from 1953 to 1957.

A graduate of North Hagerstown High School, Weber earned his bachelor's degree from Geneva College in Beaver Falls, Pa., and holds a certificate in lay pastoral ministry from Pittsburgh Theological Seminary.

A member of the Waynesboro Presbyterian Church, Weber has been a lay teacher and preacher for a number of years. This is his first call as a pastor.

He spent12 years in radio and television broadcasting and later joined a professional fundraising counsel firm, where he remained for 23 years and was president beginning in 1985.

Weber later served as vice chancellor for institutional advancement at the University of Pittsburgh. For the eight years before he retired in 2004, Weber owned his own fundraising counsel firm.

He is married to Hagerstown native Nancy Nigh. They live in Sharpsburg.
