Person of the Year nominations accepted

The Herald-Mail is accepting nominations for its Person of the Year for 2006.

The newspaper annually honors a person who has made a meaningful contribution to the community during the year. Candidates must be Washington County residents to be considered.

The winner receives a crystal bowl and $1,000 for the charity of his or her choice.

Nominations should include the person's name, address, phone number and a description of why the person deserves to win, as well as the name and phone number of the person making the nomination.

A nomination form is available at The Herald-Mail's Web site. Go to www.herald-mail.com and click on the "Person of the Year" box on the right side of the home page.

Nominations are due by Friday, Nov. 17.

Some nominations might be considered for profiles in a special "Making a Difference" publication in the spring of 2007.
