Musselman Applemen (3-6) at No. 1 Martinsburg Bulldogs (7-1)

When: Today, 7 p.m.

Series: Martinsburg leads, 10-9.

Last meeting: 2005 - Martinsburg, 40-0.

Last week: The Applemen beat Hampshire, 34-14. ... The Bulldogs beat Fort Hill, 26-14.

Notes: The Bulldogs have won the last five meetings and have outscored the Applemen 130-0 in the last three meetings. The Applemen have won two straight after losing five in a row. Applemen QB Ethan French and WR Allen Kees hooked up for three TD passes in the win over Hampshire. French finished the game 10 of 16 for 136 yards. RB Shon Jackson rushed for 113 yards and two TDs. The Bulldogs put themselves in line for their fifth CVAL title in six years by beating Fort Hill. Their two remaining two games are league contests. The Bulldogs moved up to fifth in the West Virginia Class AAA ratings in their quest for a ninth straight playoff berth. Josh Twyman continued to make his case for the Kennedy Award with his eighth straight 100-yard game. Twyman finished with 157 yards and two TDs. Marcus Scott had two long kickoff returns, including one for an 88-yard TD. The Bulldogs were outgained by Fort Hill, 361-288.


No. 2 Greencastle Blue Devils (6-2) at No. 3 Jefferson Cougars (5-3)

When: Today, 7 p.m.

Series: First meeting.

Last week: The Blue Devils beat Shippensburg, 27-7. ... The Cougars beat Hedgesville, 41-7.

Notes: This game features the top two defenses in the area. The Blue Devils are allowing just 10.3 points per game, the Cougars 12.1. ... This is the third straight year the Cougars have played a southcentral Pennsylvania team. They defeated Waynesboro in close games in 2004 and 2005. RB Conrad Myers returned to the starting lineup against Shippensburg and rushed for 75 yards and two TDs. ... The Blue Devils rolled up 239 yards on the ground against Shippensburg. ... The Blue Devils held Shippensburg to 209 yards, 57 of which came on one scoring play. They also held the Greyhounds to 69 rushing yards, the fourth opponent this season Greencastle has held below the 100-yard mark. ... The Cougars are 13th in this week's Class AAA ratings. They need to win at least one of their final two games - Greencastle and Martinsburg - to advance to the postseason. The Cougars had three return TDs in their win over Hedgesville - two punts, both by Justin Grantham, and an interception by Dewey McDonald.

No. 4 Boonsboro Warriors (5-2) at Brunswick Railroaders (3-4)

When: Today, 7 p.m.

Series: Boonsboro leads, 23-15.

Last meeting: 2005 - Brunswick, 20-14.

Last week: The Warriors beat North Hagerstown, 14-7. ... The Railroaders lost to Smithsburg, 26-12.

Notes: The Warriors strengthened their hold on the No. 4 spot in the Md. Class 1A West point standings with the win over North Hagerstown. ... The win also kept the Warriors in striking distance for the MVAL Antietam title. ... Kyle Kane scored both TDs for the Warriors on runs of 1 and 14 yards. ... The Warriors had 259 rushing yards against North and allowed only 120. They outgained the Hubs overall, 281-176. ... RB Grant Wilson ran for 96 yards and two TDs for the Railroaders in their loss to Smithsburg. He scored both TDs in the final 6 minutes of the game. ... The Railroaders had five players with at least 20 rushing yards against Smithsburg.

No. 5 North Hagerstown Hubs (4-3) at Clear Spring Blazers (1-6)

Series: North Hagerstown leads, 2-0.

Last meeting: 2005 - North Hagerstown, 62-0.

Last week: The Hubs lost to Boonsboro, 14-7. ... The Blazers lost to Catoctin, 59-6.

Notes: The Hubs have outscored the Blazers 138-12 in their two meetings. ... The Hubs dropped out of the No. 4 spot in the Class 2A West ratings with their loss to Boonsboro. ... The Hubs were held to 120 rushing yards and 176 yards in total offense against Boonsboro. ... The Hubs were penalized 10 times and had just eight first downs. ... QB Logan Kelso needs 88 passing yards to reach the 1,000-yard mark. ... LB Cadyn Robinson needs just six tackles to reach 100. ... The Blazers are still seeking their first MVAL Antietam victory. They have lost 18 straight in the conference since they joined in 2004. ... The Blazers have scored just 14 points in their four MVAL Antietam games. ... Dan Jarvis scored on a 45-yard run for the Blazers' only points against Catoctin. It was the only drive in which the Blazers took the ball into Catoctin territory.

No. 6 South Hagerstown Rebels (4-3) at Catoctin Cougars (6-1)
