Grants offered to help promote agriculture

October 24, 2006

The Maryland Agriculture Council Inc., representing the broad spectrum of the state's largest industry, is accepting grant applications for its 2007 awards.

Projects receiving funding will promote Maryland agriculture and may originate from individuals or organizations with requests up to $7,000.

The application deadline is Nov. 3.

Awards will be announced at the Maryland Agriculture Legislative dinner next February.

Grant applications can be obtained from Maryland Agriculture Council Grant Committee chairperson Frank Allnutt at 301-432-2767, ext. 308, or at FALLNUTT@umd.edu.

Special consideration will be given to applications which would maximize the value of the grant by using matching funds or "in kind" donations.
