No. 1 Musselman wins PVC Tournament title

BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - No. 1 Musselman won the Potomac Valley Conference tournament championship Saturday.

The Applemen went 4-0 in pool play, defeating Keyser and Berkeley Springs by 2-0 scores. Musselman beat Frankfort in the semifinal 2-1 and Keyser 2-0 in the final.

Chelsea Wheaton had 102 assists, 35 service points and 15 aces, Megan Holmes had 37 kills and 22 servcie points, and Danielle Felicio added 25 digs for Musselman. Wheaton and Felicio were named to the all-tournament team.

On a down note for the Applemen, Alyse Custer will miss the rest of the season with a fractured ankle.

Hedgesville second at TJ

FREDERICK, Md. - No. 5 Hedgesville finished second at the Thomas Johnson Invitational on Saturday, falling to Francis Scott Key 25-16, 14-25, 15-12 in the final.


The Eagles defeated Middletown 3-0, FSK 2-1 and Boonsboro 3-0 in pool play, before edging TJ - which is unbeaten in regular-season play - 2-1.

Lindsay Hadley was named to the all-tournament team after posting 56 kills and 36 digs in the tournament. Emily Kisner had 46 kills and 43 digs, Virginia Rogus had 132 assists, Katie Rude had 26 kills and Krista Plumer had 45 digs for the Eagles.


No. 7 Mercersburg 7, Goretti 1

MERCERSBURG, Pa. - Tim Rahauser had three goals and two assists Saturday to lead the Blue Storm past the Gaels.

Robert Nagel and Jordan Exeter had two goals each, and Exeter and Logan Craig each added an assist for Mercersburg (6-5-1).

Dave Applebaum scored for Goretti (1-13-2).
