Woman injured after being struck by car

BOONSBORO - A Knoxville, Md., woman was injured Saturday night when she was struck by a car on Old National Pike near Boonsboro, according to Maryland State Police.

Tfc. Robert Care said Barbara Ann Bayer, 41, stepped into the path of a 1994 Honda Civic driven by Michael Christopher Dowell, 18, of Sharpsburg, about 6:40 p.m. near the Yellow House Tavern. Care said Bayer was attempting to aid some motorcyclists when the accident occurred.

Bayer was taken to Washington County Hospital, where hospital officials said she still was being evaluated in the emergency department on Saturday about 10 p.m. Care said that her injuries were not life-threatening.

Care said no charges would be filed in the accident.
