Clear Spring rider places among best in big show

Nancy J. Replogle of Clear Spring and I Can Just Be, a 2005 Bay American Quarter Horse, placed in the top 10 at the 2006 Bayer Select World Championship Show on Aug. 29.

The show is an invitational event for amateur exhibitors age 50 and older. To qualify, exhibitors along with their horses must have earned a certain number of points in AQHA-approved shows between June 1, 2005 and July 30, 2006.

This is the fourth year for the show, with numbers increasing each year as exhibitors from around the world compete for 37 world championship titles.


The American Quarter Horse Journal is to have the results of the Bayer Select World Championship Show in its November issue.

Farmer info day Nov. 4 in Frederick

Maryland Cooperative Extension Office in Frederick County will sponsor a Farmer Education/Resource Day on Saturday, Nov. 4 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at its offices at 330 Montevue Lane.

The event will feature information on Maryland's nutrient management regulations, best management practices, financial assistance programs, biological risk management and marketing strategies.

The event is sponsored by the Maryland Small Farm Cooperative.

Registrants receive two hours of continuing education credits from the Maryland Department of Agriculture's Nutrient Management Program.

Md. nutrient management courses in area

Maryland Cooperative Ex-tension is going to offer free voucher training and renewal courses to farm operators who apply nutrients to 10 or more acres of cropland.

The two-hour applicator training course is required once every three years for these operators.

Time to sign up for farm bureau event

The Maryland Farm Bureau will hold its annual meeting and convention Sunday, Dec. 3 through Wednesday, Dec. 6 at the Clarion Resort Fontainebleau Hotel in Ocean City, Md.

More than 400 members are expected to attend.
