Thought it would be good, but it isn't

October 17, 2006|by ROBERT KELLER

I'm sorry to tell you that the article you are about to read is unpleasant, heartbreaking and unsettling.

The last and final book of the Series of Unfortunate Events has come out. No. 13 is the last of the series and, unfortunately, is not a great book.

The Baudelaire orphans are found sailing a boat in the middle of a storm. The boat does not hold together and the orphans are stranded on a coastal shelf in the middle of nowhere. As they wander, they come upon an island with many secrets. An even more shocking secret about the Baudelaire parents is revealed.

This book is very confusing, and seems to have no plot. The story ends, leaving you hanging, unresolved. I had been waiting for a year, eager to read this book, but I wish that the book had never been written.

I gave this poor book 5 islands out of ten.
