Doctor joins City Hospital's emergency department



MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Dr. Allen Meske, board certified emergency medicine specialist, has joined the City Hospital emergency department physician staff and Salutis Emergency Medicine Specialists.

Meske is a graduate of the Ohio State University College of Medicine. He completed his residency in emergency medicine at Johns Hopkins Hospital, Francis Scott Key Hospital and the Maryland Institute for Emergency Medical Services Systems all in Baltimore.

Before joining City Hospital's staff, Meske worked as an emergency physician in Miami, Fla., at Baptist Health Systems and at Springfield Community Hospital in Ohio. He and his wife, Nicole, recently moved to the Martinsburg area with their three children.

Nurse earns certification in forensics



MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Carolyn Siviero has been certified by the American College of Forensic Examiners as a Certified Forensic Nurse (CFN).

Siviero, a nursing supervisor at City Hospital, is the first nurse in West Virginia to obtain this certification having passed the CFN examination, according to a press release from the hospital. Required criteria to be eligible for the exam include specialized education in forensic nursing and experience in forensic nursing practice.

The CFN designation demonstrates that a nurse has an extensive base of knowledge and education, direct professional experience and a commitment to continuing education and excellence within the forensic nursing profession.
