Downtown music fest set for Saturday

October 16, 2006

Downtown Live!, an outdoor music festival, is planned for Saturday, Oct. 21, from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. It will be held in the first block of South Potomac Street in downtown Hagerstown, and will feature 10 bands, as well as food and drink specials from local restaurants.

"This event will draw attention to downtown Hagerstown," said event organizer Mike Deming. "The idea behind it is to have a Saturday where multiple restaurants and nightspots offer live entertainment and drink specials to encourage the community to come downtown to enjoy dinner and entertainment at multiple establishments."

Downtown restaurants participating in the festival are 43 South, Roccoco and Michelle's. Bud Light and FM radio station 106.9 EAGLE are sponsoring the event.

New restaurants will be opening soon on the first block of South Potomac Street, including Duffy's and Ava's.

The bands scheduled to perform at Downtown Live! are Jimmies Chicken Shack, Lloyd Dobler Effect, Jah Works, Kelly Bell Band, Jar Flys, Ledbetter Heights, The JiMiller Band, DC and the Continentals, StackoBlues, and Monsters from the Surf.
