ABC recognizes excellence in construction

The Associated Builders and Contractors Inc. Cumberland Valley Chapter held its September Excellence in Construction dinner meeting at Fountain Head Country Club in Hagerstown.

The Awards in Excellence competition sponsored by ABC is designed to recognize outstanding projects by members of the association.

The following were recognized:

Excellence in Construction, First Place

· Category A1, commercial over $1 million, Warner Construction, Frederick, Md., for project on Whittier Center.

· Category B-1, Industrial Construction over $1 million - Warner Construction, Frederick, for work on Mt. Zion Business Center project.

· Category C-1, Institutional Construction over $1 million - Morgan-Keller Inc., Frederick, for Frederick Memorial Hospital project.

· Category D-1, Public Works over $1 million, Valley Quarries Inc., Chambersburg, Pa., for Norland Avenue Extension project.

· Category E-2, Interior Renovation or Restoration under $1 million - Warner Construction, Frederick, for Mercantile Investment Wealth project.

· Category G, Mechanical Contractor over $1 million - RW Warner Inc., Frederick, for Frederick Memorial Hospital Phase III project.

Merit Awards

· Category A-1 Commercial Construction over $1 million, Morgan Keller Inc., Frederick, for BB&T in the Village of Urbana.

· Category A-1 Commercial Construction over $1 million - GRC General Contractor Inc., Zullinger, Pa., for Ashley Furniture Home Store project.

· Category B-1 Industrial Construction over $1 million - Morgan-Keller Inc. for Wedgewood South project.

· Category C-1, Institutional Construction over $1 million - Brechbill & Helman Construction, Chambersburg, Pa., for Salem Avenue Elementary School project.

Subcontractors

The following subcontractors were recognized for their contributions to the winning projects:

·Allegany Door & Hardware, Antietam Electrical, Charles Brake Co., H. Frank Foland & Son, Frederick Electric, HP&G Windows & Doors, Hancock Plumbing, IEC&S, Just Wood Industries, MEC Inc., Morgan Keller Inc. and Wastler Construction.

ABC is a national trade association with more than 23,000 firms across the nation.

In the local area, more than 200 employers are members of the Cumberland Valley Chapter of Associated Builders and Contractors.
