Chambersburg's Orndorff leads at districts

YORK, Pa. - Chambersburg's Nathan Orndorff shot a 71 to take a three-shot lead in the opening round of the PIAA District 3 Tournament at Briarwood Golf Club.

Chambersburg's Clayton Rotz is in a three-way tie for second at 74. Waynesboro's Jake Wetzel (75) and Chambersburg's Tyler Straub (77) also made the cut.

In the girls tournament, Chambersburg's Kacy Straub is in second after shooting an 82, five shots behind Manheim Township's Sara Bejgrowicz. Waynesboro's Liz Breed (90) and Greencastle-Antrim's Laura Smith (94) also made the cut.



St. James 4, Goretti 3

SAINT JAMES - Meggie Margrave had two goals to lead St. James over Goretti.

Zoe Morgens and Caroline Salisbury addded a goal each for the Saints (3-9).

Melanie Conner, Carissa Grove and Kathleen Costello each had a goal for the Gaels.

SAINT JAMES - St. Maria Goretti's Gabby Turano had 13 service points and 24 digs and Catie Breslin had 12 service points and 20 digs as the Gaels defeated St. James, 25-22, 25-23, 25-19, 25-20.

Courtney Thompson had 11 service points and 14 digs, Katie Wolfe added 10 service points and Natalie Ferretti recorded 12 assists for Goretti (3-9). Sarah Swope had nine service points and 13 digs and Alex Penn had 17 digs in the victory.

Heather Lowery had 19 kills, Lindsey Gish had 13 service points and 14 assists and Alina Rossini had 19 assists for the Saints (7-12).
