No. 3 Greencastle squeaks past No. 6 James Buchanan in 5

MERCERSBURG, Pa. - Rochelle Christman had 12 kills and five blocks and Kortney Eshleman had 10 kills and 20 assists as No. 3 Greencastle edged No. 6 James Buchanan 23-25, 25-23, 25-18, 23-25, 15-13 on Thursday.

Julia Stein had 11 kills, Beth Berger had eight kills and five blocks, Michelle Negley had seven kills and 24 digs, Amanda Ritchey had 23 assists and Sabrina Harbaugh had 22 digs for the Blue Devils (14-1).

James Buchanan falls to 10-4.

JV: JB, 2-1.

No. 7 Boonsboro 3, Smithsburg 2

SMITHSBURG - Jerica Hewett had 17 kills, five blocks and five digs as Boonsboro held off Smithsburg 16-25, 25-15, 25-14, 18-25, 15-10 in an MVAL Antietam matchup.


Katie Gantz had 22 service points, eight kills, six aces and 10 digs for the Warriors (7-3, 2-1), while Tara Garver had 34 assists, 10 digs, three aces and two blocks. Brynn Arnone had nine kills and Emma Dalton had 12 digs, four kills and three aces.

Jenny Nalley led Smithsburg (3-8, 2-2) with 17 kills and 19 digs, while Nikki Siefert added 10 kills and 16 service points. Casey Lowe had seven kills and 13 digs and Valerie Smith had 39 assists and nine digs.

Grace 3, Shalom 0

Kristin Serafini had 11 kills, nine service points and nine assists to lead Grace Academy over Shalom 25-12, 25-20, 25-11 in a Mason Dixon Christian Conference match.

Rebecca Morgan had seven kills and nine service points for the Knights (13-0, 12-0), while Amber Knuckles added 14 assists.

Everett 3, Southern Fulton 2

WARFORDSBURG, Pa. - Christy Hill had 16 kills and 24 digs as Southern Fulton was defeated by Everett 21-25, 25-18, 21-25, 25-22, 15-13 in the Sideling Hill League.

Sam Bain had nine service points, seven kills and 30 digs for the Indians (11-3, 7-3), while Rebecca Schriever had 11 service points and 23 assists.

McConnellsburg 3, Tussey Mountain 0

SAXTON, Pa. - Amanda Price had nine kills and Michelle Baker had eight aces as McConnellsburg beat Tussey Mountain 25-10, 25-7, 25-9 in a Sideling Hill League match.

Sarah Paylor had 10 assists and Gretchen Swope had six kills for the Spartans (8-5, 6-3).

Waynesboro 3, Northern 1

WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Gillian Hollen had 18 kills and five blocks as Waynesboro defeated Northern, 25-8, 20-25, 25-16, 25-12.

Leslie McKenzie had 31 assists, Jess Clement had 10 digs, Jill Lininger had six aces and Hannah Baster had six kills for the Maidens.


No. 3 Greencastle 13, Harrisburg 0

GREENCASTLE, Pa. - Treavor Gelsinger had two goals and an assist to lead Greencastle in a rout of Harrisburg.

Mac Frederick and Bren Hegberg each scored two goals, while Jai Courter, Evon Wiestling and Wes Long each had a goal and an assist for the Blue Devils (15-2). Andrew Cordell, Wesley Combs, Ryan Knight and Kevin Piper each scored a goal, while Jaren Gembe and Jesse Herman each added an assist.

No. 7 Clear Spring 2, Williamsport 0

WILLIAMSPORT - Francesco Scotto DiCarlo had a goal and an assist as Clear Spring topped Williamsport in an MVAL Antietam match.

Adam Reid scored for the Blazers (7-4, 3-2), and Aaron Mills, Sam Myers and Chris Poet each had an assist, while Andrew Beadle collected 12 saves.

Derek Monroe had six saves for the Wildcats (3-5, 2-4).

Boonsboro 4, Smithsburg 1

BOONSBORO - Shane Lowery scored two goals to lead Boonsboro to an MVAL Antietam victory over Smithsburg.

Eddie McMurtrie and John Miller each scored a goal, while McMurtrie, Mark Connelly, Rick Tonetti and Lionel Moser added an assist each for the Warriors (6-6, 5-2).

Smithsburg fell to 6-7, 4-3.

St. James 4, Berkeley Springs 3

SAINT JAMES - Troy Gogoll scored three goals and Hunter Lind scored one as St. James edged Berkeley Springs.

Gino Rosignano added two assists for the Saints (4-9-1), while Ned Kegan and Ben Farquhar each had one assist.

Josh Wise scored two goals to lead the Indians (8-7-5), while Eric Duckwall scored one goal and Matt Sugg had 14 saves.

Grace 0, Shalom 0

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Kenny Frederickson had seven saves as Grace Academy (10-2-2, 9-1-2) played Shalom to a scoreless tie in an MDCC match.

McConnellsburg 3, Bedford 2

McCONNELLSBURG, Pa. - Joseph Ardon and Evan Mellott each had a goal and an assist in McConnellsburg's victory over Bedford. Nathan Swope also scored a goal for the Spartans (12-3-1).


No. 2 Smithsburg 8, Hedgesville 0

SMITHSBURG - Shelby Layman had three goals and an assist as Smithsburg shut out Hedgesville.

Chelsea Hoover and Kourtney Morral scored two goals each and Katie Seifarth added one goal for the Leopards (10-1).

No. 7 Berkeley Springs 3, St. James 2

SAINT JAMES - Corrie Riffle had two goals and Rebecca Trump had a goal and an assist as Berkeley Springs defeated St. James.

Zoe Morgan and Kelsey Hilton each had goals for the Saints (1-10).

On Tuesday, Berkeley Springs fell to Frankfort, 3-1. Trump scored the only goal for the Indians (12-7-1).

Williamsport 3, Clear Spring 2

CLEAR SPRING - Leah Mellott scored three goals, including one on a direct kick in the second overtime, to lead Williamsport over Clear Spring in the MVAL Antietam.

Adria Moyer had an assist for the Wildcats (5-4-1, 4-1), and Lexie Bryan had nine saves.

Wendy Lucas and Sarah Dice each scored for the Blazers (4-6, 0-4), while Beth Andrews recorded 12 saves.

JV: Williamsport, 2-1.

Hedgesville 3, Mercersburg 1


St. James 1, Notre Dame 0

SAINT JAMES - Leila Chouai scored an unassisted goal and keepers Erica Riley and Anna Morrow combined for six saves for the shutout for St. James (10-3-2).
