BCA athletic department hosts pig roast

October 12, 2006

The athletic department of Broadfording Christian Academy held a pig roast on Friday evening, Sept. 22.

The event started with soccer and volleyball games being played after school, against Mountain View Christian Academy from Winchester, Va. After the games, families found their places in line for pork barbecue sandwiches, cake walks, bake sales, and jostling and bungee rope games. The crowd was also entertained by a live pig donated for the event by Dave Eder Livestock Hauling of Big Cove Tannery, Pa.

The pig was given the nickname "Cincinnati the Dancing Pig" after it lingered around the cake walk while the song "Cincinnati the Dancing Pig" was being played. Students had fun taking turns walking "Cincinnati" around the school grounds throughout the evening.

"It was a fun-filled evening for the community. We were able to raise some funds for various athletic projects while providing a great evening of food and fellowship for all those who attended. We would like to especially thank the athletes, coaches, and parents from Mountain View Christian Academy for remaining after our athletic competition to enjoy some of the tasty treats and games that were offered," said Rick Burkett, principal of BCA.
