City asks staff for tax maps

October 11, 2006|by JENNIFER FITCH

City of Hagerstown staff has been asked to present the city council with tax maps to determine how many property owners on Jonathan Street will be affected by more than $3 million of utility replacements and streetscape enhancements.

Right-of-way agreements could take more than a year to obtain, City Engineer Rodney A. Tissue said. They would be necessary in order to move wires to the rear of properties, he said.

Tissue blamed water main breaks on "an ancient cast-iron line," and said the sewer and gas lines on the street are in disrepair.
