Sawmill class planned in W.Va.

LEETOWN, W.Va. - Ever wondered how a portable sawmill works and if there's opportunity to start a small business around this equipment?

These and other questions will be answered from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday during a Portable Sawmill Workshop sponsored by the West Virginia University Extension Service.

The workshop is at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds. The event is free and no registration is required.

Sawyer Kyle Friend's topics include the advantages and disadvantages of owning/operating/hiring a portable sawmill; proper maintenance and accessories needed; and how wood is cut into useable lumber.
