MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - A Martinsburg woman allegedly found drunk outside the Bunker Hill, W.Va., residence of her 6-month-old child's father early Friday left the baby unattended to go out drinking with the baby sitter, police alleged in charging documents.

Krystal Ann Smith of 489 S. Porter Ave. was charged with a felony count of child neglect, obstructing an officer and escape, according to a complaint filed by Berkeley County Sheriff's Department Sgt. R.L. Gardner.

A $32,500 bond was set in an arraignment hearing Friday by Magistrate James A. Humphrey.

"Deputy Myers located 6-month-old Kaleb Lee Thomas ... asleep unattended, uncovered with a fan blowing on him," Gardner said in his complaint. "(Myers) advised his skin was cold to the touch."

The baby sitter told police that Smith had said a neighbor was watching the child, but she had not seen the neighbor, and she and the accused left the home between 10 and 10:30 p.m. to go drinking at a club, according to the complaint.
