Couple faces theft charges

A Pennsylvania couple was charged Saturday after allegedly attempting to cash fraudulent money orders at Wal-Mart on Garland Groh Boulevard, according to a press release from the Hagerstown Police Department.

Jennifer Elbin, 24, and Johnnie Elbin, 39, both of 115 Wichita Road in Artemas, Pa., each were charged with felony theft and theft scheme over $500, according to the release.

Jennifer Elbin also was charged with possession of marijuana and paraphernalia, according to the release.

An investigation by police revealed the Elbins also allegedly cashed "several" money orders at a Wal-Mart in Pennsylvania. Police recovered more than $2,000 from the couple, according to the release.
