Men charged after pursuit

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Two men were taken into custody Thursday morning following a pursuit of a vehicle that had been reported stolen, according to the Chambersburg Police Department.

Fernando Vargas-Rodriguez, 31, of Haines City, Fla., was charged with fleeing and eluding police, and loitering and prowling following the chase, which began Thursday at 1:09 a.m., police said.

Luis A. Hurtado-Hernandez, 24, of 246 S. Main St., was charged with possession of cocaine, police said.

A white Mustang fitting the description of a vehicle stolen west of Chambersburg was spotted in the 200 block of South Main Street, police said. Following a brief chase, the car was abandoned on Black Avenue near Gilbert Avenue, police said.

Hurtado-Hernandez was found in the 500 block of South Main Street, and Vargas-Rodriguez, whom police said was driving the car, was found behind a house in the 500 block of South Second Street, police said.

The theft of the vehicle is being investigated by Pennsylvania State Police.
