Hagerstown man injured in shooting at bar in city

October 07, 2006

A 24-year-old man was shot in the lower abdomen early Friday while at a bar on North Jonathan Street, according to a press release from the Hagerstown Police Department.

Sgt. Paul Kifer said police were called to Zippers about 12:40 a.m. to investigate the shooting.

Kifer said the man was taken to Washington County Hospital with injuries that did not appear to be life-threatening. He said the man has talked to police.

Kifer would not say who the victim was, other than that he has been living in Hagerstown.

The man apparently was shot with one handgun round inside the bar, he said.

Zippers used to be known as New Visions Sports Lounge, Kifer said.
