Local artists' show closes

On Sunday, Oct. 8, the Washington County Arts Council Gallery wraps up its show of original works of art by artists who reside or work in Washington County. The show includes Rhianon Lightner's "Pizza on the Beach", above. The gallery is at 14 W. Washington St., Hagerstown. Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, and by appointment. Go to www.washingtoncountyarts.com.

Paintings from the East

An exhibit of paintings (including the Japanese cat above) from Asia and the Middle East are on display at AIIA (Antiques to Art) in Shepherdstown, W.Va. The show includes a selection of miniatures from Persia and India and continues through Sunday, Oct. 29. The gallery is on W.Va. 230 about a mile from Shepherdstown. One scene, many views

James Condron has painted in nearly the same location almost daily for the past year, using color to represent the vibrations of form and space.
