MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Former U.S. Sen. Max Cleland of Georgia is slated to be the featured speaker for the second regional Jefferson Jackson Dinner hosted by Berkeley County Democratic Party leaders in Martinsburg.
The event is Oct. 13 at 6 p.m.
Tickets for the fundraiser and fall election rally at the Holiday Inn are still available.
The event is expected to include appearances by U.S. Sens. Robert C. Byrd and Jay Rockefeller, Gov. Joe Manchin and state Senate leaders Earl Ray Tomblin and Truman Chafin, according to Berkeley County Democratic Party leader John Fink.
Second Congressional District candidate Mike Callahan and several local candidates and office holders also are expected to attend, Fink said.
Sponsored by the Berkeley County Democratic Executive Committee and the Berkeley County Democratic Association, any ticket sale proceeds generated from the event will be redistributed to individual, county Democratic Party executive committees, Fink said. The regional dinner for West Virginia's seven most eastern counties is an off-shoot of the annual Jefferson Jackson Dinner held in Charleston, W.Va., Fink said. A dinner/fundraiser for the Northern Panhandle region is expected to be held this year.
