Fidelity Bank is moving its headquarters next year from downtown Hagerstown to a new building off Leitersburg Pike, the company announced Tuesday.
The new headquarters building, which also will have a branch office, is expected to open late next spring, said Senior Vice President Patricia Harris, the bank's marketing officer.
The two-story, 36,000-square-foot building is near the new post office.
It also will house Mercantile Brokerage Services Inc., an investment firm now at the current headquarters, according to a company press release.
Harris said Fidelity has six branches in Washington County. The new building will have the seventh.
The downtown branch on West Washington Street will remain open.
Fidelity has three branches in Allegany County, Md., Harris said.
Fidelity Bank is a division of Farmers & Mechanics Bank, within Mercantile Bankshares Corp.
Harris said Fidelity started in 1902.
