Washington County Public Schools Superintendent Elizabeth Morgan was nominated for national superintendent of the year.

Board of Education Vice President Jacqueline B. Fischer announced during Tuesday night's meeting that Morgan was nominated for the honor, which is sponsored by the American Association of School Administrators.

"We've been pleased with Dr. Morgan's vision for the school system and the tremendous strides made," Fischer said.

Morgan could be selected from among other superintendents in Maryland to compete for the national award.
