No. 1 North remains undefeated

BOONSBORO - Allie Snyder, Alluka Ogle-Moore and Courtney Whorten scored two goals each for No. 1 North Hagerstown, which scored five second-half goals en route to a 7-3 MVAL Antietam victory over No. 4 Boonsboro on Tuesday.

Cara Thompson also scored for the Hubs (8-0, 2-0) while Hannah Barton had an assist and Lindsay Irvin recorded four saves.

Lauren Hensley scored twice, Katie Harn added a goal and Katie Reese had an assist for the Warriors (4-3, 1-1). Annie Myers had 18 saves.


No. 2 Smithsburg 6, Brunswick 0

SMITHSBURG - Chelsea Hoover and Jenna Burns each scored two goals to lead Smithsburg over Brunswick in an MVAL Antietam game.

Katie Seifarth and Mia Doyle each had a goal for the Leopards (6-1, 3-0), and Cara Jordan had three assists.

No. 3 Jefferson 3, No. 5 Martinsburg 2

SHENANDOAH JUNCTION, W.Va. - Jenny Perry and Katie Perry scored goals as Jefferson edged Martinsburg to improve to 13-1.

Amy Wright scored both goals for the Bulldogs (7-8-2).

JV: Jefferson, 6-0.

Clear Spring 5, No. 7, Berkeley Springs 3

BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - Sarah Dice and Wendy Lucas each had a goal and an assist for Clear Spring in the victory over Berkeley Springs.

Carley Snyder, Kristie McMurray and Alisha Commer each added a goal for the Blazers (4-3).

Rebecca Trump scored two goals and Corie Riffle had a goal and an assist for the Indians.


No. 3 Greencastle 6, Boiling Springs 2

BOILING SPRINGS, Pa. - Jaren Gembe scored three goals as Greencastle defeated Boiling Springs in a Mid-Penn Capital game.

Treavor Gelsinger had two goals and three assists for the Blue Devils (12-2, 8-1), while Evan Wiestling had a goal and an assist and Jordan Springer had an assist.

No. 7 North Hagerstown 2, Boonsboro 1

Michael Baer scored two goals, both assisted by Tim Gullace, as North Hagerstown defeated Boonsboro in an MVAL Antietam game.

Colin Lodter had eight saves for the Hubs (5-4, 1-2).

Mark Connelly scored a goal for the Warriors.

JV: North, 3-2.

Potomac School 2, St. James 1

McLEAN, Va. - Gino Rosignano scored his 10th goal of the season on an assist from goalkeeper Bennett Opitz for Saint James in a Mid Atlantic Conference loss to Potomac School.

Opitz added 11 saves for the Saints (2-7-1, 0-6).

Clear Spring 4, Berkeley Springs 2

BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - Adam Reid had two goals and two assists to lead Clear Spring over Berkeley Springs.

Francesco Scotto DiCarlo had a goal and an assist, Jarret Martin had a goal and Andrew Beadle had seven saves for the Blazers (4-4).

Matt Martin scored both goals for the Indians.

Grace 3, Broadfording 0

Andy Lytle, Pat Salvagno and Caleb Serafini each scored a goal to lead Grace Academy over Broadfording Christian Academy in a Mason Dixon Christian Conference game.

Nick Bunting had an assist for the Knights (9-1-1, 8-1-1).

Shalom 3, Heritage 0

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Jae Cheon scored two goals as Shalom Christian Academy defeated Heritage Academy in a Mason Dixon Christian Conference game.

Dustin Draper scored a goal for the Flames.

Travis Barthalow had 12 saves for the Eagles (5-4-1, 2-4-1).

Williamsport 3, South 0

WILLIAMSPORT - Jesse Buchman scored two goals to lead Williamsport over South Hagerstown in an MVAL Antietam game.

Justin Gardenhour had a goal and an assist for the Wildcats (2-2), and Brandon Barlow had an assist.

James Buchanan 11, Harrisburg 0

MERCERSBURG, Pa. - Zach Hampson and Dion Lehman each had three goals to lead James Buchanan past Harrisburg.

Brandon Bard had two goals and Kris Potter, Sawyer Hollenshead and Spencer Knoll had a goal each for the Rockets. Cory Zimmerman had four assists.


Trojans' Straubs win Mid-Penn titles

DILLSBURG, Pa. - Chambersburg's Tyler Straub and Kacy Straub won titles at the Mid-Penn Tournament at Range End Golf Club.

Tyler Straub shot a 70, edging teammate and runner-up Clayton Rotz by two strokes for the boys title. Kacy Straub shot an 84 to win the girls title by six strokes. Waynesboro's Liz Breed tied for second with a 90.

The top 34 boys qualifed for next week's District 3 championships. They included: Waynesboro's Derek Baker and Jake Wetzel, who tied for fifth at 75; Chambersburg's Ryan Coccagna, who tied for 19th with a 78; Chambersburg's Nathan Orndorff and Greencastle-Antrim's Shane Wollaston, who tied for 26th at 80; and Waynesboro's Alec Kessler, who was 34th with an 81.

Greencastle's Laura Smith tied for fourth in the girls competition with a 97 and also qualied for districts.


No. 1 Musselman 3, No. 7 Hedgesville 1

INWOOD, W.Va. - Alyse Custer had 14 kills, 13 service points and four aces to lead Musselman to a 25-18, 21-25, 25-20, 25-13 victory over Hedgesville.

Stephanie Wood had 14 kills and four blocks, Erica Manor had 10 kills and Chelsea Wheaton had 47 assists and 11 service points for the Applemen (18-3-2).

Musselman is ranked No. 2 in West Virginia and Hedgesville is No. 4.

JV: Musselman, 2-0.
