Grove Retirement Club

SHADY GROVE, Pa. -Tuesday, Oct. 3, 1 p.m., Shady Grove Community Center, Buchanan Trail East. Rodney Hocenberry with Quality First Insurance Agency, will discuss Medicare supplement insurance. Heritage Fest and auction

Saturday, Sept. 30, doors open at 8 a.m., auction begins at 10 a.m., Heritage Academy, 12215 Walnut Point West, Hagerstown. Items to be auctioned include Longaberger baskets and pottery, collectibles, quilts, home and office furniture, gift certificates, a Lee Teter Reflections print valued at $1,200, and more. Yard sale and flea market

ROCKY RIDGE, Md. -For the benefit of The New Forest Society Environmental Scholarship Fund, through the Community Foundation of Frederick County, Saturday, Sept. 30, and Sunday, Oct. 1, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., The Lost Hen Farm Landscape Nursery, 14443 Hoover's Mill Road, U.S. 15 North to Md. 77 East. Go left on Old Frederick Road North, then left on Mud College Road, Hoovers Mill is the first left; or take Md. 76 (Motter's Station) to Old Frederick, turn right and proceed to Mud College, turn right and Hoover's Mill Road is first left. Tables cost $10. There will be a bake sale and raffle for a native Red Maple tree. Soft drinks are free while they last.

Clip for the Cure

WAYNESBORO, Pa. - For the benefit of breast cancer research, Saturday, Sept. 30, noon to 5 p.m., SmartStyle Family Hair Salon, Waynesboro Wal-Mart. Stylists will offer $10 haircuts with proceeds donated to breast cancer research. Also from Saturday, Sept. 30, to Sunday, Oct. 15, 10 percent of net proceeds from the sale of Regis designLINE hair care products will be donated to the cause. Call the salon, 717-749-3200.

Rummage sale

Thursday, Oct. 4, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saint Mary School, 218 W. Washington St., Hagerstown. Toys, clothing, books, houseware, plants, collectibles, food and more will be sold. Fill a bag for $2 after 1 p.m. Proceeds benefit the school. Park in Walnut Street parking lot.

Pancake breakfast

WILLIAMSPORT - Saturday, Oct. 7, 7 to 11 a.m., Downsville Ruritan Club community building, Downsville Pike. Menu includes all-you-can-eat pancakes, sausage, sausage gravy, pudding, scrambled eggs, juice, coffee and milk. Cost is $5, adults, $2.50, ages 6 to 12 and ages 5 and younger eat free.
