Kate Zimmer had 17 kills and nine service points and Karli Powers had eight digs and five aces to lead North Hagerstown over Brunswick 25-10, 25-11, 25-14 in an MVAL Antietam game.

Hannah Boward had 21 assists, 11 service points and seven digs, Brooke Powell had 12 digs and six kills, Amelia Plank had 14 digs and 10 service points, Jen Bowlus had 10 digs and Kelly Toms had five kills for the Hubs (8-1, 3-0).

JV: North, 2-0.

No. 4 Greencastle 3, Boiling Springs 0

BOILING SPRINGS, Pa. - Kelly Thompson and Michelle Negley each had seven kills as Greencastle defeated Boiling Springs, 25-14, 25-11, 25-9.


Rochelle Christman had five aces and three blocks for the Blue Devils (9-1), and Kaytie Johnson had six aces.

JV: Greencastle 2-0.

South 3, Clear Spring 1

CLEAR SPRING - Chelsea Weaver had nine kills, nine service points and 17 digs for South Hagerstown in a 25-21, 25-22, 13-25, 25-20 over MVAL Antietam opponent Clear Spring.

Brittany Hyatt had 20 assists, seven service points and eight digs, Kaitlyn Beard had 14 digs and 10 service points and Mar-ke Cosley had six blocks for the Rebels (2-5, 2-0).

Mandy Jenkins had eight kills, eight digs and five aces, Emily Pinkham had eight kills and four blocks, Lindsay Lacy had eight kills and Emily Steinacker had 23 assists for the Blazers (2-4).

Smithsburg 3, Catoctin 2

SMITHSURG - Valerie Smith had 28 assists, 25 service points and nine aces to lead Smithsburg over Catoctin, 23-25, 25-16, 20-25, 25-12, 15-5, in a Monocacy Valley Athletic League Antietam Conference game.

Nikki Seifert had 12 kills for the Leopards (2-5, 1-1), while Jenny Nalley had 10 kills and 12 digs and Casey Lowe had eight kills and 18 digs.

Angela Stiles had nine service points and eight kills for the Cougars (4-4, 1-3), while Marlee Reed had 11 assists and Megan Heihdel had eight digs.

JV: Smithsburg 2-0.

St. James 3, Highland View 1

SAINT JAMES - Heather Lowery had 12 kills, seven service points and four blocks as St. James defeated Highland View, 25-17, 27-29, 25-12, 25-20.

Callen Spicher had 10 kills and two digs for the Saints (2-7), while Lindsey Gish had 14 service points and two digs, Maggie Love had 15 service points and Alina Rossini had 15 assists.

Heritage 3, Front Royal 0

Andrea Clark had 16 service points and 13 assists as Heritage Academy defeated Front Royal, 25-19, 25-13, 25-12.

Jennifer King had nine kills for the Eagles (3-8).

Broadfording 3, Calvary 0

Hannah Young had 23 service points, 14 aces and five kills as Broadfording swept Calvary 25-11. 25-6, 25-10 in an MDCC game.

Danielle DuBois had eight kills, 11 service points and six aces and Becca Adams had 19 assists for the Lions (7-3, 5-3).

Big Spring 3, Waynesboro 0

NEWVILLE, Pa. - Gillian Hollen had nine kills and seven blocks and Leslie McKenzie had 15 assists, but Waynesboro was defeated by Big Spring, 25-16, 26-24, 25-13.

James Buchanan 3, Harrisburg 0

HARRISBURG, Pa. - Amy Heisey has six kills and 12 digs to lead James Buchanan to a 25-11, 25-12, 25-5 Mid-Penn victory over Harrisburg.

Leah Witter had 12 service points and four aces for the Rockets.

McConnellsburg 3, Fannett-Metal 0

McCONNELLSBURG, Pa. - Michelle Baker had 14 service points and five aces as McConnellsburg defeated Fannett-Metal, 25-15, 25-13, 25-23.

Ashley Peck had 14 service points for the Spartans (6-3), while Gretchen Pope and Amanda Price each ahd nine kills and Sarah Paylor had 10 assists.

Chestnut Ridge 3, Southern Fulton 0

WARFORDSBURG, Pa. - Sam Bain had 11 digs, nine kills, 16 service points and four aces for Southern Fulton in a 25-23, 25-23, 25-22 loss to Sideling Hill League opponent Chestnut Ridge.

Natasha Bard had eight kills and six blocks and Renee Spade had 15 digs for the Indians (8-2, 4-2).

JV: Southern Fulton, 2-1.

Notre Dame 3, Mercersburg 0

MERCERSBURG, Pa. - Cree Riley had nine kills and Whitney Davis had four digs as Mercersburg Academy was defeated by Notre Dame Academy, 25-15, 25-16, 25-13.

Brunswick 4, Clear Spring 1

CLEAR SPRING - Shawn Baker scored two goals and Gregory Kline and Brandon Wilson also scored to lead Brunswick (5-0-1, 2-0).

Adam Reid scored on an assist from Jarret Martin, while Andrew Beadle made five saves for Clear Spring (3-4, 0-2).


No. 2 Smithsburg 5, South 0

Lauren Donley scored two goals as Smithsburg defeated South Hagerstown, in an MVAL Antietam game.

Cara Jordan and Katie Seifarth each had a goal and an assist for the Leopards (5-1, 3-3), while Rachel Wolf had a goal and Mia Doyle had an assist.

Goalkeeper Brittany Shadrach had 23 saves for the Rebels (2-4-1).


Good Counsel 2, St. James 0

SAINT JAMES - Anna Morrow had one save for St. James (7-3-1).


Junior Basketball registration

The Hagerstown Junior Basketball League, entering its 59th season, is holding registration. The league is open to all Washington County kids in grades 4-6 (the elementary division, 13-under) and grades 7-8 (the junior division, 15-under).

Players who have played in the league in previous seasons still are required to register. All players must provide a birth certificate or other proof of age.

Registration dates are as follows:

Saturday - St. Maria Goretti High School, 9-11 a.m.

Tuesday - Western Heights Middle School, 6-8 p.m.

Wednesday - Eastern Elementary School, 6-8 p.m.

Thursday - Northern Middle School, 6-8 p.m.

Coaches and league officers are also needed.
