Clinic gets money from city

September 27, 2006|by ANDREW SCHOTZ

The city agreed Tuesday to give Community Free Clinic another $10,000, increasing the city's funding this year to $50,000.

Councilman Lewis C. Metzner said the city's contribution will match what Washington County is giving this year. The county does not annually fund the clinic.

Councilwoman Penny M. Nigh said she wanted to be sure the county was giving money because county residents use the clinic.

The free clinic has a $130,000 deficit because of an increased demand for its services, Executive Director Robin Roberson said this month.

The extra $10,000 that the city council unanimously approved on Tuesday will come from a Community Development Block Grant.
