The county's newest course, at 17 years old, Black Rock is one of Maryland's most spectacular public courses.

Hagerstown Greens at Hamilton Run
Access: Public.
Layout: Nine holes, par 34, 2,554 yards. Course is short and tight. Only one water hazard. One par 5, three par 3s.
Cost
· Weekdays: $9 for nine holes, $12 for 18 holes; seniors (62 and older) and juniors (16 and younger), $8 for nine holes, $10 for 18 holes.
· Weekends: $13 for nine or 18 holes
· Twilight (from 6 p.m. until dusk): $7.50
Carts: $9 for nine holes, $14 for 18; for seniors, $8.50 for nine holes, $13.50 for 18.
For frequent golfers, the best deal is to pay $250 for yearly membership for unlimited play, $200 for seniors. The family rate is $400 annually.

Yingling's
Access: Public.
Layout: 18 holes, par 54, 1,720 yards. The county's only par-3 course.
The course is ideal for beginners and others who want to work on their iron game.
Cost:
· $7 for nine holes, $9 for 18 holes, $13 for all-day play.
· For seniors and those younger than 16 - $6 for nine holes, $8 for 18 holes, $11 for all-day play.
No carts. Walk-ons only, no tee times.
