City Market

City Market, at 25 W. Church St. in Hagerstown, is the oldest continuously operating farmers market in Maryland.

It sells homegrown fruits and vegetables, fresh-baked breads and sweets, locally butchered meats and handcrafted items every Saturday except Christmas Day and New Year's Day.

Approximately 50 vendors sell their goods from 5 a.m. to noon.

Two cafs prepare hearty country breakfasts, and the market has lunch available.

The motto has always been "Come back to homegrown."

For information, call 301-739-8577, ext. 183, or visit the market's Web site at www.hagerstownmarket.org.

Washington County Farmers Market

The Washington County Farmers Market, which opened in 1991, is at Prime Outlets at Hagerstown.

It offers meat and locally grown fruits and vegetables from about a dozen vendors and delicacies from several bakers.
