Job search researches

Following are resources for job-seekers:

· Classified advertisements, local and national Web sites and word-of-mouth are ways to find a job.

To search for jobs in Maryland and beyond, check out for thousands of job listings.

· Several area newspapers, including The Herald-Mail, have teamed up to create the Web site, which has job listings in Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia and Washington, D.C.

· Several staffing agencies (commonly called temp agencies) offer employment services. Check the phone book's "Employment" section in the yellow pages for more information.

Upcoming events for job-seekers

· Key Strategies for Job Fair Success workshop. Friday, Sept. 29, 10 a.m. to noon at Washington County One-Stop Job Center, 14 N. Potomac St., Hagerstown.


The workshop will show participants how to prepare for a job fair and what to do during a fair.

· Third Annual Fall Job Fair. Friday, Oct. 6, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Hagerstown Community College.

Typically, the One-Stop Job Center hosts a large job fair in the spring and another in the fall, with a few smaller fairs throughout the year.

The Job Center, at 14 N. Potomac St., Hagerstown, is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Mondays-Wednesdays and Fridays and from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Thursdays.
