One of 14 such centers in the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area, the Hagerstown Telework Center allows federal employees to work from downtown Hagerstown rather than commute into the city.

Partnered with the City of Hagerstown, the center is a workplace for students, researchers, independent contractors and business travelers. Home-based business people also can use it to hold meetings.

It offers modular workstations with computers, broadband access, dedicated phone lines, networked copy/print/fax capabilities, conference rooms, a kitchenette and 24-hour secure access.

As of August, there were 23 federal employees from 15 agencies working at the center for up to four days a week.
